The child had a 104-degree fever and the health care providers were intent on helping the girl. In this western region of Ghana, malaria is endemic and the nurses had seen such high fevers before in suspected cases.

As international HIV/AIDS experts gather in Rome for their annual meeting, Tanzanian civic groups expand efforts to offer at-risk Tanzanians HIV counseling and testing services in their communities.
