Jhpiego malaria expert addresses Congressional Global Health Caucus

11 July 2007

Dr. William Brieger, Jhpiego's Senior Malaria Specialist, was invited to address the House Global Health Caucus at a briefing convened by the caucus chairman, Rep. Vic Snyder. Joining Dr. Brieger on the July 11 panel were Dr. Lee Hall of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Trenton Ruebush of the United States Agency for International Development.

In his opening remarks, Rep. Snyder, one of the few physicians in Congress, discussed the need to educate Congress about malaria and other infectious diseases. Dr. Brieger highlighted Jhpiego's work addressing malaria in pregnancy and interventions designed to keep pregnant women and their children safe from this often deadly disease.
