This document is a collaborative effort of the Global Malaria Programme and Making Pregnancy Safer departments of the World Health Organization at Headquarters and the Malaria Control and Reproductive Health departments at the WHO Regional Office for Africa. Monitoring and evaluation of the interventions for malaria prevention and control during pregnancy require close collaboration between malaria control and reproductive health programs. To assess progress in and effectiveness of the delivery of interventions, core indicators of process, outcome and impact have been identified. The objective of the guidelines is to provide guidance to malaria control and reproductive health care workers, particularly those in antenatal care clinics, for monitoring and evaluation of key indicators of malaria in pregnancy.
