Igniting Change! Accelerating Collective Action for Reproductive Health and Safe Motherhood
This publication, developed by the Enabling Change for Women's Reproductive Health (ENABLE) Project and the Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) Program, discusses the theory and historical context of social mobilization. It then focuses on the two programs' efforts to apply social mobilization to the field of reproductive health in order to accelerate change. Country examples are provided to show how social mobilization resulted in forged alliances that helped to increase awareness and secure political commitment, improve information equity, facilitate collaborative actions and adopt evidence-based practices.
