A Baltimore native, Bonnie Phipps currently serves as a senior consultant with Yaffe & Company, where she brings her significant experience and expertise to her position of lead on executive compensation and productivity. Previously, Ms. Phipps spent more than 10 years with Ascension Health—the largest Catholic health system in the United States with over 80 acute care hospitals and $1.8 billion in annual revenues—excelling in various senior leadership roles. As president and CEO of Saint Agnes Hospital, she led a $212 million campus expansion and renovation project, and the development of an adjoining campus that included workforce housing and a multi-purpose community asset. Ms. Phipps was then promoted to senior vice president and group operating executive within the hospital’s parent company, Ascension Health Inc., overseeing hospital performance in eight markets. Before joining Saint Agnes in January 2006, she was president and CEO of Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Ms. Phipps also served as president and CEO of PROMINA Health System and as chief financial officer at Atlanta’s DeKalb Medical Center and Egleston Children’s Hospital.
Ms. Phipps holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, summa cum laude, from Georgia State University and a master’s degree in professional accountancy, also from Georgia State University. She is a certified public accountant, certified managed care professional and a fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), for which she served as National Chairman from 1992 to 1993.
Ms. Phipps brings her expertise to numerous boards and has received multiple top awards in her profession. In 1996, Ms. Phipps received the Morgan Award, HFMA’s highest honor recognizing individual contributions to the industry. In 2005, Georgia State University inducted her into its Business Hall of Fame. As a three-time recipient of the Top 100 Women in Maryland, she joined the group’s Circle of Excellence. In 2012, Ms. Phipps was named one of Healthcare’s Most Powerful Women by Healthcare Executive News and has been named three times to the Becker Healthcare News Top Healthcare Executive list.
