In June 2014, the International Confederation of Midwives(ICM) held its 30th Triennial Congress Prague, Czech Republic. The entire Congress was a huge success, with over 3,700 midwives from around the globe in attendance; this year’s theme was “Midwives: Improving Women’s Health Globally.”
Standing out among the crowd was HMS. With support from its consortium members, the HMS team manned a very popular booth where attendees learned more about HMS, its linkages to Helping Babies Breath (HBB), and had the opportunity to practice on the MamaNatalie, which attracted a lot of attention. The HMS team also supported various sessions, including HMS demonstration workshops with ICM, a Jhpiego-led panel on HMS experiences in the field, and an ICM-facilitated plenary that included panel members ICM, Jhpiego, FIGO, and Laerdal Global Health. After exchanging ideas and expanding their knowledge, participants left the congress recommitted to improving women’s health around the globe and helping mothers survive.
