Reaching Today’s Families with Today’s Technologies

Digital tools are central to our work in designing innovative, low-cost health care solutions that improve quality of care. We use these tools to bring our solutions closer to the people who need them, connecting students with training, providers with up-to-date information and users with lifesaving care.

Not all digital solutions are right for all contexts. We work with countries to identify, develop and deploy the tools that best meet their needs.

Increasing Our Impact

In Côte d’Ivoire, we’re bringing health care closer to people where they live to change how chronic conditions, such as TB and HIV are managed. For yam farmer Loukou Kouame, a CommCare referral app meant hope for a healthier future.

How We Make an Impact

We use digital tools to bring standards-based education and training to health care providers wherever they are. Our innovations support midwife trainees in virtual classrooms, new nurse-midwives in their first clinical assignments, veteran nurses in the field seeking up-to-date guidance and more.

Our digital tools enable health care workers to work more effectively and efficiently improve quality of care as they check for danger signs in pregnant women, provide care and counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS, and much more.

We create networks of care, supporting health care workers in registering and monitoring clients and in making diagnoses and referrals. We promote the sharing of critical public health information and proven strategies, such as social and behavior change communications, to reach clients with the information they need when they need it.

Technical approach to digital health

Jhpiego identifies six priority elements in its approach to digital health: learning, decision support tools, networks of care, health management information systems, social and behavior change communications, and quality. Our digital solutions increase the impact of our work in strengthening health care systems and developing local human capacity to save lives and improve the health of women and their families.
