FEATURED EVENT

Transforming Women’s Health: Lessons from the Global South
12:30 PM – 2:45 PM | Intercontinental Hotel, Ballroom A
The World Health Organization recently reported that the global maternal mortality ratio (MMR) dropped by 40% between 2000 and 2023. Real progress is being made, yet far too many women are dying in low- and lower-middle-income countries, where 95% of maternal deaths occur. Many of these deaths are preventable.
This World Health Assembly side event, convened by Jhpiego and partners with support from the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), will spotlight achievements from India, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. We hope to catalyze a global dialogue on how to translate commitments into action and advance women’s health equity through shared learning across the Global South.

Toward Global Readiness: Harmonizing Credentials for a Borderless Health Workforce
11:30 AM | Intercontinental Hotel, Ballroom B
By 2030, low- and middle-income countries will face significant challenges due to rapidly aging populations, and at the same time a critical shortage of health care workers. This gap poses a significant threat to achieving universal health coverage and responding effectively to public health emergencies.
This event will explore how cross-border credentialing and targeted capacity-building efforts can address the urgent global health workforce shortage while enhancing the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of care.
Bringing together global health leaders, government officials, professional bodies, educators, and frontline professionals, the event will foster dialogue and collaboration. It aims to produce actionable insights and policy-relevant recommendations that will shape future strategies for credentialing, training, and sustaining a skilled, mobile, and resilient health workforce worldwide.
Hosted by Devex in partnership with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
