The MamaNatalie Birthing Simulator is used to train a large number of birth attendants in maternal and newborn care courses, such as Helping Mothers Survive. It is a highly effective and affordable birthing simulator with unique features like realistic bleeding.
Laerdal introduced the Buy One Gift One program in 2010. For each MamaNatalie sold in a high-income country, a second unit is being donated for use in a low-resource country. Jhpiego is coordinating the allocation of gifted simulators in support of the introduction of the Helping Mothers Survive Program – in collaboration with FIGO, International Confederation of Midwives, UNFPA, American Academy of Pediatrics and others.
More than 1,000 MamaNatalies have been donated so far.
