The film, “Family Planning for Health and Happiness,” won a multi-country video contest and premiered at MCHIP’s Postpartum Family Planning Technical Session pre-event at the 2013 Women Deliver Conference in Kuala Lumpur. Indrani Kashya, Jhpiego/MCHIP’s communications officer in India, discusses her team’s motivations for making the film:
“We all love stories, we’re born for them,” said Andrew Stanton, the filmmaker who has made some of my favorite films (“Toy Story” and “Finding Nemo”). The power of storytelling has been known to humans since prehistoric times. And we modern day communicators use multiple mediums to tell our stories, including film.
We made the movie “Family Planning for Health and Happiness” to tell the story of how a postpartum family planning (PPFP) program, run with the support of MCHIP and other donors, is impacting lives in India.
