Community Health Officer Joseph Appiah-Kubi uses his motorcycle to reach remote communities in Ghana’s western, coastal region through the STAR CHPS program. He is part of a team improving care for an estimated 8,700 Ghanaians who rely on the Akwidaa Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) center – a center which itself is one of 61 facilities participating in a Jhpiego and Ghana Health Service initiative to strengthen health services in the coastal region.
Jhpiego is thrilled to be a part of a new global coalition of more than 500 organizations urging reforms to ensure that everyone, everywhere can access quality health services without being forced into poverty. We are committed to reaching remote communities like this Ghanian village with quality care.
Jubilee Ventures Consortium — a collaboration of Tullow Oil, Kosmos Energy, Anadarka Petroleum, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Sabre Oil and EO Group Ltd. — is funding STAR CHPS, a unique private-public partnership.
