Jhpiego began working in Mali in the late 1980s, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), to expand and strengthen pre-service education in reproductive health at the National School of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bamako under a multi-year program. Jhpiego returned to Mali from 2010 to 2015 as part of the USAID-funded Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP) and the Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP). Currently, Jhpiego is working in Mali under the Services de Santé à Grand Impact (SSGI) program (2014–2019), led by Save the Children.
