Jhpiego has been active in Togo since 1989, initially working with the faculty of medicine to strengthen pre-service education in reproductive health for medical students. From 1995 to 2002, Jhpiego implemented a large family planning and AIDS prevention project, Santé Familiale et Prévention du SIDA, which was funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Currently, Jhpiego works in Togo under a regional collaborative effort in West Africa with the United Nations Population Fund, and under the USAID-funded Maternal and Child Survival Program.
