Mike Hankin is a partner of Brown Advisory Incorporated, where he serves as president and CEO. Brown Advisory is an independent investment firm committed to providing its clients with first-class investment performance, thoughtful strategic advice and the highest levels of client service. The firm was founded in 1993 as part of Alex. Brown & Sons, then one of the oldest and most respected investment firms in the US. Hankin has led the firm since 1998, when it became independent and largely employee owned. Prior to Brown Advisory, Hankin worked extensively with clients as a tax and business law partner with Piper & Marbury.

Hankin is deeply committed to the communities where his family lives and the firm is based. He serves as chairman of the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, trustee of Johns Hopkins University, trustee and vice chairman of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and chairman of the Board of Managers of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He also serves as president of the Land Preservation Trust, the Chesapeake Conservancy and the Center for Large Landscape Conservation, and is a member of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation Board of Directors. Hankin also serves on the board of directors for Stanley Black & Decker and for two private companies, Tate Engineering Services and The Wills Group.

Hankin earned a BA and MA from Emory University in 1979, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1982.
